Your Most Vital Skill In Marketing
Do you know what it is?
As you progress through life, there will be skills that you need to excel in. A solid understanding of your strengths and passions, problem solving skills, and so on, will make a big difference to your chances of success.
However, your most vital skill is the ability to write and edit material. In marketing, there’s a lot of writing and editing needed to be done. You will be responding to e-mails, writing and editing sales letters, writing e-mail campaigns in your autoresponder, and writing content for your blog or web site.
You need to master this vital skill before you even begin to think about creating your own information products, if this is what you plan on doing.
Don’t think you can get away with using Private Label Content (PLR) material. This is material written by other people, which you purchase the rights to use as your own. To be successful with PLR material, you need to re-write it to make it unique. The search engines may penalize you for having duplicate content, so this is why you should always re-write content, no matter what it is.
You CAN work on improving your writing skills, no matter what your current level is at! If you don’t believe me, look at how many successful marketers come from countries where English is a second language to them. They overcame the vital skill barrier and developed reasonable writing skills. You just need to continue to always think positive.
The best way to improve your most vital skill of writing and editing content is to get a blog and post regularly to it. Don’t worry if your first few posts aren’t as good as you pictured them to be. Trust me, when I first started to blog, I was worried that people would comment to say my posts were terrible. I do admit though that my earliest posts (I have removed them from my blog) were not as valuable to my readers as the ones I have available today. It simply takes patience and devotion.
I don’t believe that a book will help a marketer to improve this vital skill. In fact, the best method is to interact (through your blog) to your readers and learn how they communicate. This experience is far better, in my opinion!
